I published Group B on 2025-2-17, is there no risk of water solubility? Reader Elliot sent an online link on 2025-7-3. After clicking, this link opened TGA concedes it failed to prevent growing number of blood toxicity cases attributed to vitamin B6, published a day ago by Australia's ABC News.

About the vitamin B6 mentioned in this report, have you ever heard that "the general lack of vitamin B group in Chinese" or "group B is water-soluble, so there is no risk of excessive poisoning"? However, these statements are all wrong. Please see:

TGA is Therapeutic Goods Administration (Pharmacopoeia). It is a department of the Australian government, and is responsible for the approval of drugs and the safety of drugs, which is related to the FDA in the United States or Taiwan.

In fact, Australia's "ABC News" had published two reports earlier this year, pointing out that TGA was deeply worried about the increasing number of vitamin B6 poisoning incidents.

2025-1-7: Warnings high doses of vitamin B6 over a long period could cause irreversible nerve damage. Since 2020, TGA has received 119 reports of peripheral neuropathy changes due to vitamin B6 poisoning. Vitamin B6 is usually obtained without prescription, but only those who are diagnosed with lack of vitamin B6 need to take supplements. TGA is currently considering a proposal that requires the storage of B6 products behind the cabinet.

2025-1-27: Medical professionals fear cases of B6 toxicity are under-reported (medical professionals are worried that there are insufficient reports of vitamin B6 poisoning). Ten people from all over Australia shared with us their experience of Vitamin B6 poisoning. Terri-Lynne South, a general practitioner and nutritionist, said the number of cases may be underestimated. TGA is considering a proposal to strengthen supervision, including changing the sales location and sales method of B6 vitamins.

ABC News report 2025-7-2 said that TGA acknowledged the seriousness of the vitamin B6 poisoning problem and stated that it had proposed a more stringent regulation on B6, which will be implemented in 2027.

Overrial intake of vitamin B6 can lead to problems that change the quality of life, including weekly neuropathy, a neurologic malfunction that can cause tingling, numbness, burning, or weakness in the limbs.

"It's so shocking," said clinician David Kanowski, who runs a clinic that tests blood samples of vitamin B6 across Australia.

Kanowski noticed that the number of people undergoing Vitamin B6 blood tests has increased "significantly"; since January, the number has doubled to more than 10,000 people per month.

Based on May data, he said 4.5% (i.e. 450 people) of the tests showed that they were "very likely" to have neuropathy. One quarter of the

samples, or 2,500 people, will also experience symptoms.

pharmacist Caroline Diamantis is worried that the supervision reform that TGA has decided to implement in February 2027 is "too far away".

"I personally think it's too long because people may have to wait a year or even longer to feel the side effects," she said. Professor Langham of

TGA responded that the complexity of these reforms means that the process would be "long".

"We have to consider that the operators need to re-produce their products, which means either eliminating them out or reducing their dose. In addition, TGA plans to make another change to our legal legislative legislation on some of our labels and some of our medicine lists (what we call the list of allowable ingredients). This is done to ensure that things can be done carefully and ultimately make Australians sure that we have made the right decision."
