One in every 4 children in Taiwan is overweight or obese. According to the Ministry of Education’s “112 Annual Student Health Check Data”, the prevalence of overweight and obesity among primary school students in Taiwan is 23.8%, while the prevalence of prevalence of middle school children in China is 28.6%. The National Health Administration has joined hands with the Ministry of Education to promote the health of children, advocated "FIT" and used Fitness Sports, Intake Diet and Team cooperation to encourage parents to set an example and establish a healthy life habit and reduce weight.
Shen Jingfen, director of the National Health Administration, said that obesity is like a chronic disease, and the reasons are related to adverse living conditions. The problem of children getting fat may increase the risk of suffering from multiple chronic diseases in the future. "Children are not just their own problems, but parents should also set an example; parents need to participate in the changes in healthy living style." Adults' diet affects the next generation, and it is easier for parents to succeed in accompanying their children to participate in the process of reducing the focus.
The foreign food ratio is high. The Ministry of Education's National People's and Preschool Education Department, Zhang Shichang, pointed out that lunch is the most suitable meal for eating multiple foods among the three meals a day, and may also be the only balanced meal. Therefore, various schools strengthen the quality of nutritional lunches, and AI will set menus to improve the variety of dishes and balanced nutrition. Healthy body position is an important indicator, and schools can build a supportive environment that can help students develop good habits and reduce the prevalence of overweight and obesity.
Director Chen Murong, director of the Primary School Clinic, said that children are still developing, and learning new things is very important, but sports are also indispensable. In fact, children who are active perform better in learning than children who are not active. As long as they are sports behaviors that will increase their heart rate, they will produce brain beating, thereby improving their learning, concentration and memory.
Chen Murong reminded that obesity can cause a variety of health problems, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, epidemiotic syndrome, hypertension, and decreased immunity. "There are patients who repeatedly catch colds because obesity can weaken the immune response and cause chronic inflammation in the body."
Some parents believe that "when they are young, they will get high when they grow up." However, studies have shown that up to 50% of children are obese and 70% of adolescents are obese, and they are still obese adults after adulthood. Chen Murong said that when a child is too heavy or obese, most of the time he grows up or is fat, he should build a healthy body from a young age, and parents should accompany him to exercise, so that normal diet and exercise become part of his life habits.
FIT Three elements:
Fitness exercise. Children exercise for at least 1 hour a day. They can choose aerobic exercises such as running, swimming, or riding; or basketballs that help long-term highs and table tennis training.
Intake Diet Use "My Meal" to establish a balanced diet for children, less processing of prototypes, and avoid choosing sugary drinks. Because sugary drinks will cause rapid fluctuations in blood sugar, making it difficult for children to concentrate.
Team Cooperation Parents set their own actions as an important key to the development of children's healthy body. They accompany them to exercise and prepare meals together to further develop children's healthy diet.
