The Daily Mail reported that the Greek court recently determined the retrial date of the Maguire case.

Five years have passed since Maguire was arrested during his holiday in Mykonos Island in Greece, but the Manchester United defender has finally been given a chance to cleanse his grievances.

Maguire was sentenced to 21 months of probation for being accused of assaulting police and attempted bribery, but he has always firmly denied the charges, and the judgment was automatically revoked after his appeal. The retrial was originally scheduled for May 2023 and was forced to postpone due to the absence of a defense attorney. In February 2024, the strike of Greek lawyers was postponed again. The third trial attempt on March 25 this year was still unsuccessful, when officials from the Syros Island Court even hinted that the lawsuit could be terminated due to the expiration of the prosecution period in August 2028.

However, the Daily Mail exclusively learned that the new trial date is October 8 this year. The next day, Maguire was supposed to face Wales with England, but it is reported that he did not need to appear in court in person.
