Manchester City officially announced that it will renew its contract with Japanese women's football international Hasegawa Wei for two years. This new contract will allow the world football top midfielder to stay in the team until the summer of 2029.
Hosei Hasegawa joined Manchester City Women's Football Team from West Ham United Women's Football Team in September 2022. In each of the three full seasons of the team, he was selected as the Women's Super League's Best Team of the Year selected by the Professional Football Players Association (PFA).
She has quickly approached the club's 100-game milestone, and it is particularly important to emphasize its importance that she has missed only four games in the first three seasons of Manchester City's women's football team.
This midfielder was not only selected as the shortlist for the Golden Globes in 2023 and 2024, but was also voted by fans as the best player of the women's football club in the 2024-25 season.
When talking about the contract renewal, Hasegawa said: "I am very happy to complete the contract renewal. I am extremely excited because we are expected to win the championship this season. Having outstanding players and advanced tactical system makes me look forward to the prospects of the season. I am extremely eager to win the trophy for this club, and there are my favorite teammates here, which is the core factor in determining to stay in the team."
Manchester City Women's Football Director Trayther Sjoglan added: "It is ecstatic that Hasegawa agreed to renew the contract. She is the world's top player in the same position and will become a key force in our continued competition with world-class teams. She deserves all the praise and recognition, and we look forward to her writing a new chapter in the future here."
