Former Manchester United, Liverpool and England international Paul Ince was charged with driving under the influence. Cheshire police said that they received a call from the police at around 5 pm on Saturday that there was an accident on the Neston-Chester Expressway.
Police statement said: "The black Land Rover Range Rover collided with the central isolation barrier. Police officers arrested a 57-year-old man after arriving at the scene. Paul Ince was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of drunkenness."
Ince is now on bail and will appear in Chester District Court on July 18. The star, who played more than 200 games for Manchester United in the first half of the 1990s, also played for West Ham United, Wolves and Inter Milan.
In the 1993 match against the United States, Ince, who had only one year of his debut in England's adult team, became the first black captain of the Three Lions, wearing the captain's armband seven times. The London-born player started his coaching career from McClersfield Town in 2006, and his most recent position is to coach the Championship team Reading from 2022 to 2023.
