The Daily Mail reported that Rico Lewis will renew his contract with Manchester City.

Lewis is about to sign a new five-year contract with Manchester City, which has thus defeated Nottingham Forest's interest. Forest tried to sign Lewis and McCarthy last week (the latter joined last weekend for an initial transfer fee of £25m). Lewis performed well in Manchester City's first match against Wolves, assisting Haaland's first goal, and The Daily Mail learned that the contract renewal negotiations accelerated quickly early this week.

Manchester City has been discussing a new contract with the 20-year-old this summer, but no agreement has been reached. Lewis was left out of the roster in the FA Cup final in May, which sparked doubts about his future. Forest was encouraged enough to make an offer for the England international, but Lewis always wanted to stay at Manchester City.

Lewis made this clear after last week's game against Wolves, insisting that playing for Manchester City was his dream. Earlier this week, negotiations on the new five-year contract accelerated the process, and after the contract renewal, Lewis' contract will be extended for two years on the original basis.

Lewis had a conversation with Guardiola during the Forest Pursuit, and after the contract renewal he would receive a higher salary than he has been in place, but Manchester City still needs to sell players to balance the roster. Galatasaray hopes to sign Akanji and Ederson. Young defender Callum Doyle is completing the transfer to Wrexham for £8 million, and the Champions League team will pay an initial fee of £5 million.
